Awards
Christina DeFranco has won numerous awards during her 30-year career in Broadcast Journalism, including 6 Emmys, An Accolade, a Telly, A Communicator Award, Associated Press honors, and citations from Connecticut’s Society for Professional Journalists for her work as a general assignment reporter. She has been honored with a New York Festival Award for her first documentary on the Hartford Public School system. She most recently won an Emmy in 2019 for hosting CPTV’s “When You See Something, Will You Say Something?” Prior to that, she won back-to-back Emmys in 2015 & 2016 for her original documentary and online series called Made in Connecticut that continues to air on Connecticut Public Television. The other series she created for CPTV, Empowering Connecticut, won an Emmy in 2012. In addition, she’s received Emmy nominations for Darkest Hours: The Crisis in Children’s Mental Healthcare and Aston’s Army: A Swim Team’s Legacy.
